Michael F. Kastre has written over 500 magazine and newspaper, and online articles and columns covering a spectrum of topics ranging from politics, health, lifestyles, and terrorism to technology, culture, food, business, careers, and military affairs. He covered Capitol Hill for seven years as a military affairs correspondent. In addition, he served as an adjunct faculty member for several universities, teaching undergraduate courses in advanced research and writing, business, and communications. He resides in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia with his wife, Nydia.
Nydia Kastre has over 15 years experience in the field of diet and nutrition, serving as wellness adviser, nutritionist, and technical dietitian at multiple hospitals and clinics, including the Woman, Infants, and Children Clinic (WIC) and Women's Exercise Research Center at George Washington University. She earned her degree in Health, Wellness and Fitness from George Mason University in Virginia. She believes in two important factors. The first being that eating habits are passed from generation to generation; therefore, awareness must start at an early age at home as well as school. The second is that children can develop a special connection with healthy foods through interactive and associative learning. By doing so they empower themselves to make the right decisions when it comes to eating habits. She is presently writing a series of books, using fantasy and realism to engage children in learning how foods affect their bodies. She is also developing toys and games to integrate and support this fun learning process.
